Hi Fam! Here are a few more pictures from the lovely trip to Hawaii. Since you've all seen one of Sara's wedding (it was breathtakingly beautiful, by the way), here are a few of your cute parents/grandparents on their first trip to Hawaii together. Hey all you crazy family of mine...

Sorry folks, its been longer then I thought! Ok, just a quick update on our fam fam....
My dads family (including gram Gwen) were here a couple weeks ago so that was pretty cool to see all of them again (although when we lived in Utah we only saw them a couple times a year anyway hmmm....). CJ, Hanna and I hung out at home a lot because Mom and Dad were traveling with them (Rome, Pisa, Florence, Pompei, Venice, and everywhere else you could possibly imagine).
I was in a piano forte concerto about a week ago and it was great. I played a Chopin piece that I have been working on sence I have been here, so it was nice to get that over with and move on to more good stuff. (My teacher has loaded me with music again now, and who knows how far I will get in the next 2 months before I leave for home hmmm....).
Today is, or.. oops, its after midnight haha WAS Hannas birthday and she had 12 girls from her school come over and it was a total party. First we sang Happy Birthday in Italian, then they all wanted to practice their english, so we sang it again normal haha. It was fun.
Jenne and Kenzy get here tomorrow and I am PSYCHED OUT!! I love my girly cousins! They are all to rare haha. We will keep you updated on the events to come!
We are planning on getting home in early august, so maybe we will be there for the balloon fest! YAY!!!!!!! Dad has been so funny because one day he'll be like "What are we doing here... lets go home tomorrow" and then today he was like "I was driving down the highway and I looked around and saw all the great stuff everywhere, and I decided that I really love it here; why do we have to leave?". Its a never ending story.
Ok, I guess I have to do something out of the ordinary like sleep... (lots of times I find myself staying up waaay to late because I cant think of any reason to go to bed. Hey Grama, can you think of any newspaper clippings on the importance of sleep???).

Tommy, you're a riot -- I (grandma) tried nursing Sam when he was a baby when Melanie was so ill, but sadly the nourishing liquid just wouldn't come to a grandma (did this embarrass you, Sam? enough to get you to blog?)

Thanks for the wonderful description of the Hawaii experience, Molano. We didn't know you were trying to obtain your degree by Dec., thought it was next Spring. (Darlene told me today you don't need a degree to be a librarian in Utah {Barbara Shannon, her daughter}, is a librarian at a grade school--she doesn't have a degree.) But maybe that's just for a grade school librarian. The World Religion class sounds fascinating.

Fresh Dirt

This blog thing is my new favorite place to talk about my crashes. I had another rather gnarly one today. This is how it went down. We went to a new place that we'd never been before today, and there was this haneously huge step-up jump (around 60 feet give or take). After a while we were feeling pretty comfy on it and it was cool. I decided to hit it one last time before we left, so I blasted up the runway to it. I launched and I was free as a bird for a while then when I hit the ground again my bike twisted sideways and this way and that way then deposited me into the ground mercilessly. Turns out my back tire went flat some time between takeoff and landing. I had all sorts of sediment and foliage in my pants, and the weeds gave me hives for a while because I was just wearing a t-shirt. Ha Ha. I'm a little sore right now, but nothing serious happened. Thank you for listening, family, and best wishes to all of you in all of your doings. I need to go and wallow in self pity for a while, so I will hear from yall later.

It's been a busy week and a half since we went to Hawaii to witness the lovely wedding of Sara and Daniel. They both glowed in love and I am proud of them for their commitment to eachother and for wanting to be together. The weather was perfect (the next day it rained all day). All of you who came were so wonderful to spend the money and take the time to do so. The beach was a few miles around Diamond Head and was at a nice park and resort area. Then we went to a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant were we sang and heard poetry from Tom.Waikiki was pretty interesting. It was like walking in downtown L.A. with all the shopping mecca. But then you just turn and walk over to the beach. Many people there and not very tropical. It was very beautiful though and people were generally nice. We took a drive east and north to the other side of the Island (Oahu) were the tropics were intoxicating and the beach sand as fine as snow. Sam and Mac and Joe and Jake did some snorkeling, I chickened out. Then we drove up to the temple and saw its beauty. Then we took in a show at the polynesian cultural center. Now that was great. I wish everyone had gone. On other days, Sam and Mac and Tom rented scooters and scooted around the Island. the three J's went to the beach a lot and ate at the local Burger King or MacDonalds. Dad and Mom treated Beth and I to some yummy seafood buffets and Japanese breakfast buffet. Thank you Dad, you're awesome. I was so glad they came as it gave me someone to hang with. We shopped and had fun. I love you so much.I've started my new job at the Roseville downtown library and I love it. I am busy winding up a class about American images in Art and I have to write a paper each week for that. I start a new class on World Religions in a couple of weeks. I have school through the summer and a big load in the fall in order to finnish my degree by Dec. I'm not sure I'll make it to Utah this summer. Maybe for thanksgiving... Love you all, Mel

Well I just discovered this Slade blogspot/site/page thingy and I've been reading through some of the tantalizing entries. I have advice for only one: Jayne, you know, I tried nursing Joey when he was about eight years old, and I eat chocolate every day. The only person who got hurt was me, when Joey punched me in the nipple. ~Tom

Hi everyone, we arrived home safely from the Hawaii adventure, the plane didn't crash or anything. It's such a hassle nowadays, getting through security, etc. Grumpa had his little Swiss Army knife in a carry-on and they confiscated it! Sara has taken the plunge and is now a married woman.
She was very appreciative of the efforts taken by family members to be with her on her big day. Daniel is a very nice young man and most considerate of her. It was fun to see Hawaii, the Polynesian Cultural Center and all the touristy things. Going to try to post a picture or two. Love, Gr & Gr

Let it be known that Austin got a new (actually used), faster, better suspended dirtbike a few days ago. Now he too will be able to to fall farther out of the air than he used to. We will get pictures of us shredding and post them as events warrant. Thank you.

ADVICE TO ALL TRAVELERS: (We have a few in our family who are taking flight..Jenne, Mackenzie; Tammy, Jamie) Be sure to put name, address & phone on the outside of your luggage (luggage tags) and also a card inside with your name, etc. In case your luggage gets lost, and
a lot do. Also, have a carry-on with necessities in it (make-up, underwear, etc) in case they do lose your check-in bag.

I won't be walking correctly for a while because I ignored this tidbit of advice. YOWZER!

Hi family! It's me, Taylor. I finally found the time to sit down and get myself a blog account thing. I'm still rather new at it so don't make fun of me. Anyway, I just wanted to tell Mac to be careful doing those backflips. The forward ones are a little safer, but don't try them on the backswing. You'll break your neck. My friend Mitch did it. Darn near killed him. Well, ta-ta for now, family.

Hey guys, I was messing with the code for this page, trying to figure out their system, so that I could put the Sladesnews logo at the top, but I haven't quite gotten it to work right yet. Maybe someday! Last night a couple of friends of mine and I went for a walk around the neighborhood, and we found a park. So, we got on the swings and we were playing around, and I just had to show off (because these friends are girls). So I was going to do my famous forward-backflip out of the swing! Well, it was dark, and I was swinging a little higher than I thought, so when I swung forward, then flipped backwards out of the swing, I should have landed on my feet. But I didn't. My feet didn't reach the ground in time, and I kept rotating right onto my back. Ooooooh, that hurt. The wind got knocked out of me, and my back reeeeaally hurt. After a few minutes I was able to get up and hobble home. Luckily it was only about a block away. So this morning it still hurt somewhat, but I went to work anyway, but they sent me home. So I've been icing it, and reading, for most of the day. Ho-hum.
