Well 1.618 is approximately half of pi (3.142857... the universal number used to calculate circles in geometry), therefore a relationship might exist. It's quite odd that even when super computers calculate pi to it's nearest decimal (pi is calculated by dividing 22 by 7), billions of decimals come up but no pattern exists. It's the perfect number. Has anyone read the Dan Brown books? The Da Vinci Code discusses the Divine Ratio. Leonardo Da Vinci was such a perfect artist that he used the ratio without even realizing it. If you want to think about creation and divinity, dabble in the world of theoretical physics, such as quantam mechanics, anti-matter, and teleportation. Anti-matter can be created in laboratories but it is instantly destroyed once regular matter touches it. You see, anti-matter is self-explanatory: it is the absolute negative of physical matter. When regular matter touches it's anti-matter, a reaction of pure energy takes place (if an Earth crashes into an anti-Earth, a "Supernova" would take place). Scientists believe that anti-matter's potential is so great, we could power a spacecraft 1/3 the speed of light with a paperclip. You think that's sci fi? Think again. This stuff is real. Want to hear something even more strange? Even more, want me to prove it to you 100 percent? Would you believe it if our Air Force was researching teleportation? Well they are, and they did. They spent millions of dollars on a project called the Air Force Teleportation Physics Study. You can google it or click on the link. It's an 88 page document released for public viewing. Who knows if mankind's narcissism will bring good fortune or ill-winds. Couple all of this with our multi-billion dollar anti-aging industry, then you see the irony in a lack of belief in God when we are trying so shamelessly to obtain his powers.

Yeah, Angels & Demons talks a lot about anti-matter. Neat stuff! The question is, could someone duplicate what they did in the book?

I read Angels & Demons and Da Vinci Code, but not with a scientific brain. Just for pleasure. I would have to switch my brain over and read them again to even start to maybe understand a little about what you guys are talking about!
We read the Dan Brown's while sitting around with nothing to do in Italy!? It was fun to hang out in Vatican City after reading Angels and Demons. How did you get so smart, Tom? Maybe you could be the Sladesnew talk show host and just get us thinking about all kinds of 'out there' stuff. It's good for us.
Read the Dan Brown's too. Very entertaining and thought provoking. Interesting though when scientists try to prove certain things--but they are only proving that God exists even more with their "theories". I believe, like (Tommy?)said, that it all depend on what we do as a society with this knowledge. Tommy is definately prone to writing in such ways, but did it ever occur to y'all that grandma could've written that paragraph?. She's quite the writter also. Come forth Mystery Writer!
By the way-Tom just IS smart. He teaches himself things and thinks faster than a speeding bullet. Sometimes it is good for him and sometimes it is bad for him. But, he is exceptionally smart-I'm his sister but I don't get it! Both my parents are smart...my dad is quite a thinker--to his own detriment sometimes. Not me though! Ha! I'm a zombie!! : )
i read those books in Italy! :)and i totally agree, it was way cool to go to Vatican city after reading Angels and Demons. But yeah, those books are way scientific, and it actually made sense to me! WOW!
Gr: Tommy, that was so stimulating to read, love it. I didn't know about it being half of pi. Don't know much about anti-matter, but sounds fascinating....have heard of teleportation, however (Coast to Coast). I thought you should major in journalism/broadcasting so you could take George Noory's place when he retires, but then the world needs you as a scientist!
