We went.... the summer of 2004. We did a whole section of Highway One, from Mid Oregon to San Francisco - and we stopped and had showers and dinner with my Dearest Aunt Melanie! That was the first time Caleb met them, and Tommy walked in and immediately began examining Caleb's ears. When he was satisfied and said "Yep, he'll do" and Caleb has loved Tommy ever since. We will definitely do that trip again with our kids someday, it was SO GREAT!! And the statues are in a place called "Trees of Mystery" in the Red wood national forest.

No way! That's cool, Jayne. But here's how I remember it:
"Hey, little girl, what's your name?"
"Bethanie."
"Stephanie?"
"No, Bethanie!"
"Bachano???"
"NO, BETHANIE, YOU SILLY MAN!"
And the legend was born.
it looks like he wet his pants.

....I meant that the TALL statues freaked me out by the way...not cute little Jayne! : )
Can't believe it's still there! We've got to plan a family trip to memorialize that day when "Bachano" was born. When did you guys go, Jayne?
